CCTV appeal to trace cyclist after West Melton 'crash'

POLICE investigating a suspected crash at West Melton have appealed for a cyclist who may have been involved to get in touch.

Officers were called to Christchurch Road at 12.25am on Tuesday (16), when a blue Ford Fiesta was located at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police believes a bicycle might have also been involved in the incident.

A spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to speak to the cyclist pictured, who is believed to have travelled along Stubbin Road past the Marquis Pub, towards Greasbrough at around midnight and could hold vital information.

“At this time, it remains unclear whether a collision took place, so police also want to ensure the cyclist is safe and well.”

SYP said it appreciated the CCTV image was not of high quality, but hopes the cyclist or someone who knows them will recognise them.

A 22-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting incident 21 of August 16, or to get in touch via the SYP online portal.
