CCTV appeal after pensioner's cash stolen in Rotherham

POLICE want to speak to this man after a large amount of cash was stolen from a pensioner in Rotherham town centre.

The 87-year-old victim withdrew money from the post office on Bridgegate and walked to the Admiral Casino on Effingham Street.

Officers believe he was followed by an unknown offender, who stole the victim’s wallet and fled at about 10.15am on August 17.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing but officers would like to identify the man in these images, who they believe may hold vital information about what happened.”

PC Adam White added: “The victim in this incident was an elderly man who had just withdrawn his pension, we believe he was targeted because he was vulnerable. This could be your dad or grandad. 

“If you recognise the man in the CCTV images, or have any information about what happened, please do get in touch.”
