Cause of Swallownest house fire under investigation

THE cause of a house fire which three fire crews attended last night (Monday) is under investigation.

The blaze broke out at a house on Pagenall Drive, Swallownest at 11.50pm.

Three crews from Aston, Maltby and Birley stations attended and battled the blaze until 2am.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said no-one was injured and the cause of the fire was under investigation.

A fire at Red Quarry Lane, Gildingwells which was started at 9pm is also being investigated, added the spokeswoman.

Around 30 tyres were found alight and crews from Aston and Maltby left the scene at 11.40pm.

Arsonists set alight rubbish on Fitzwilliam Street, Swinton at 9.25pm which was brought under control by a crew from Cudworth station within 50 minutes.
