Cause of Edlington house fire under investigation

A FIRE which broke out at domestic premises in Edlington last night (Sunday) is still under investigation.

A crew from Edlington station was called to Park Crescent just after 7.30pm, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said, and left the scene at 9pm.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

The crew was later called to Marlborough Avenue, Sprotbrough, at 11.20pm, to a garden shed on fire.

No injuries were reported and the fire was accidental.

Firefighters from Doncaster station spent around half an hour putting out a rubbish fire in a field on Donnington Road, Mexborough, at 9.15pm on Sunday, the spokeswoman added.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

Arsonists torched a Citroen C2 in the early hours of Saturday. Firefighters from Edlington station were called to the car fire on High Road at 2am, the spokeswoman said.

They spent around half an hour tackling the fire which is believed to have been started deliberately, she added.
