Cash in the offing for Rotherham community groups

GRANTS of up to £500 are up for grabs for community groups.

Rotherham Federation of Communities (RotherFed) has launched its latest  small grants scheme, which is open to all Rotherham community and voluntary groups interested in helping improve the appearance of their estates and communities.

Environmental improvement schemes, educational projects, adopting a street or pocket park and litter picking are all eligible.

The maximum amount you can receive from this grant is £500 and £5,000 will be allocated this month.

Steve Ruffle from RotherFed said: “These small environmental projects enable community pride and can be really inspiring.

Community groups and volunteers are already doing some fantastic projects on their estates.

“This grant will help support and celebrate new activity led by communities.”

The closing date for applications is Friday, August 19.
