Car catches fire on busy Ravenfield crossroads during rush hour

A CAR caught fire this morning (Thursday) on a busy crossroads.

The incident happened at around 7.55am on Moor Lane South near to Hollings Lane, Ravenfield.

Police also attended the scene as the car was in the middle of the road, said a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman.

A crew from Maltby fire station left the scene at 8.20am.

An eyewitness said he believed the Smart car had been involved in a road traffic collision before it caught fire.

Last night, firefighters were also called out to an arson attack in Biscay Way, Wath, where a tree had been torched.

A crew from Cudworth station was at the scene for 40 minutes after arriving at 7.30pm.
