Car boot stock goes up in flames

A LARGE amount of car boot stock was destroyed in a garage fire last night (Thursday).

Three crews attended the blaze on South Vale Drive, Thrybergh, at 9.40pm.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the accidental blaze was started by the property owner welding in the garage.

"The fire was limited to the building and there was quite a lot of stock in there," he added.

Crews from Rotherham, Dearne and Maltby stations left the scene at 10.30pm.

Aston station also attended a deliberate rubbish fire on Far Lane, East Dene, at 9.40pm - the second arson attack of the evening in  the borough after a debris was set alight on Chesterhill Avenue, Dalton, at 6pm.
