Car and van fires in the Dearne Valley

ARSONISTS torched a car and a van in Thurnscoe and West Melton in the early hours of this morning (Thursday). 

A crew from Dearne station was called to the car fire in Chapel Lane, Thurnscoe, at 12.20am.

"The cause of the fire was deliberate and the crew left the scene at 12.55am," said a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. 

The second fire happened on Browning Road, West Melton, at 2.05am and two crews from Dearne station were called to the scene of the van fire. 

Crews left at 2.30am and the cause was deliberate.
