Cannabis farm found in Rotherham town centre

POLICE are investigating after a suspected cannabis farm was discovered in Rotherham town centre.

It is understood several hundred plants were found at a large house in Alma Road on Monday.

A strong smell of cannabis was apparent outside the property on Tuesday morning, when two police vehicles including a CSI van, were parked outside.

A police spokeswoman said: “At 10.55pm on Monday, officers were called to reports of a disturbance on Alma Road.

“As officers were investigating a property that had been damaged they found what was estimated to be several hundred cannabis plants growing inside.

“Nobody was present at the property at the time. No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing.”
