Cancer battler Jude proves himself a winner

AN annual charity football match which brought in £1,000 for good causes featured a match-winning cameo by a youngster battling cancer.

The showdown saw Thorpe Hesley Village taking on a Thorpe Hesley XI.

And nine-year-old Jude Hawkridge, who has been having treatment for leukaemia, dispatched the winner in a 1-0 game from the penalty spot.

Funds raised will go to the Tommy’s charity, an appeal to provide defibrillators in Kimberworth and TeamJude, Jude’s family and friends who are supporting the Sheffield Children’s Hospital charity.
