Canal body identified

The boy of a man found in a Rotherham canal on Tuesday was yesterday named as that of 24-year-old Keiron Lilley.

Police and fire and rescue crews pulled the body from the Sheffield and South Yorkshire canal close to Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Keiron was originally from Essex but had recently moved to Rotherham.

A postmortem was conducted on Wednesday which proved inconclusive and further test results were required.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances but police are appealing for anyone that may have seen Keiron on or after Monday, November 1 to contact Det Sgt Jamie Henderson on 01709 832261 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
