Bus bosses' thanks over South Yorkshire routes revamp

ALMOST 1,000 people had their say on changing to bus routes.

South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) canvassed for opinions on revised timetables for numerous routes, including the X78, X1, A1, 13, 23, 27, 29, 31, 34, 37, 66, 72, 74/74a, 111/112, 114, 115, 116, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141,142, 227, and new services X74 and 208.

Changes are due to come in force on Sunday, March 3.

SYPTE executive director, Stephen Edwards, said: “Service changes that are shaped by passengers, wherever possible, help to make sure local bus partnerships can continue to meet community needs.

“Through the consultation, we received feedback from customers and local councillors and this has helped to inform the decisions made by the local bus partnerships.

“The changes aim to improve the frequency and punctuality of services on busy corridors, and provide better access to places of employment, education and hospitals.”
