Burst water main closes school

PROBLEMS with the water supply forced a primary school to close its doors earlier today.

Staff at Laughton Junior and Infant School, on School Road, Laughton, alerted parents by text message after a burst water main cut off the school’s supply and left it without heating.

A team of engineers from Yorkshire Water worked quickly to repair the problem and the school was expected to re-open the following day.

A spokesman from Rotherham Borough Council said: “We understand it was just a straightforward issue which should be resolved fairly quickly.”
