Burglars strike six times in five days on the same estate

HOMES on a housing estate were raided by burglars six times in five days.

The thefts happened between August 7 and August 12 on Victoria Street, Robert Street and Winfred Street in Masbrough.

Items taken include jewellery, watches, handbags, bank cards and cash.

In each case, intruders gained entry through unlocked windows and back doors.

Det Insp Mark Oughton said: “These burglaries have occurred in a very small radius in an area where previously there have been very few.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to hear from anyone who has any information.”

He added: “During the summer months we do see a rise in burglary and doorstep crime which is largely due to the warmer weather and insecure doors and windows.”
