Burglars slapped child after they pretended to be plumbers to ransack house

BURGLARS ransacked a house after pretending to be plumbers to the children there — then slapping one in the face.

Police said two men knocked on the door of the Hartley Close property in Kilnhurst last Thursday at about 3.30pm.

A force spokesperson said: “It is understood they informed children present at the property they needed to enter to urgently to repair some pipe work.

“Once inside the property, the two men have ransacked the home and made threats to the children, slapping one of them around the face, before fleeing the scene.

“It is believed they headed in the direction of Newsome Street and Highthorn Road.”

The suspects are both described as being white, early 20s and were wearing surgical masks at the time.

One had on a black and white checked shirt, the other a red T-shirt.

Police have appealed for information and dash-cam or CCTV footage to come forward.

Call 101, quoting incident 631 of June 16. Footage can be sent to enquiries@southyorks.pnn.police.uk.
