Grimshaw, of Sussex Gardens, Denaby, fled with jewellery and a mobile phone after the incident on August 8, 2020.

Det Con Andy Gray said: “This incident left the victim understandably shaken. It must have been extremely unsettling to wake up in your own home with a stranger shouting at you and attacking you.

“Burglary is a key priority for South Yorkshire Police and we take incidents like this very seriously indeed. I am pleased that Grimshaw is behind bars where he belongs.”

The defendant appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on October 20 and admitted burglary and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
