Burglar targeted wrong house

AN ARMED burglar who targeted the wrong house and shouted “Where’s your weed?” has been jailed.

Richard Jarvis (21) was carrying a crow bar and knife when he entered the home of a 55-year-old man by mistake.

The resident confronted Jarvis who fled from the Brampton Bierlow property last December.

Jarvis, of Laudsdale Road, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court to eight years and six months.

Det Con Iain Martin said: “It’s believed that Jarvis entered this property in an attempt to steal cannabis.

“On this occasion he targeted an innocent man in his own home and will now pay the consequences of his actions.

“We would urge people to think long and hard before entering into this sort of criminality as the sentence imposed shows that we will not tolerate those who find it acceptable to enter into other people's homes uninvited.”
