Brothers charged with 26 sex offences against Rotherham girls

TWO brothers have been charged with a total of 26 sexual offences against underage girls between 1998 and 2003.

Bannaras Hussain (35), of Bridge Close in Goole, is due before magistrates in Rotherham this morning on 22 offences over a four year period.

His charges include three rapes, four counts of aiding and abetting rape, nine indecent assaults, two assaults and four counts of procuring a woman for prostitution.

His brother Sageer Hussain (29), of the same address, has been summoned to Rotherham Magistrates Court on July 9 on four counts of raping a girl under 16 in 2003.

Senior investigating officer Martin Tate said: “This is a complex and protracted investigation with a vast amount of work still to do.

“Eleven other men remain on bail in connection with this investigation.

“I want to continue to encourage victims of all sexual crime to come forward. It takes huge courage and I would want to reassure anyone who does come forward that their complaints will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.”

Operation Clover is a joint investigation by South Yorkshire Police, Rotherham Borough Council and the Crown Prosecution Service.

It is one of a number of non-recent child sexual exploitation investigations in Rotherham between 1990 and 2003.
