Brother and sister menaced by gang of thugs

TRANSPORT police are appealing for information after a brother and sister were harassed on board a train in Rotherham last month.

The teenagers were travelling on the 7.25pm Meadowhall to Bolton-on-Dearne service on Thursday February 10, when they were approached by a group of between six to eight men.

Pc Roy Percival, the investigating officer, said: “As the group boarded the service at Rotherham, they saw the pair and sat down next to them. They began to tease both youths and quickly became verbally abusive.

“This understandably left the victims feeling shaken and extremely distressed.

“This was an intimidating ordeal for the victims, who had absolutely no chance of defending themselves against such a large group of men.

“As part of our enquiries into this incident we've followed up a number of leads, including speaking to people in the area at the time, but to no avail so far.

“We are now urging anyone who was on the service and saw the incident, or who may have any information to come forward.”

The men were described as all white and of various ages between 15-30 years old.
