Rotherham Borough Council will begin resurfacing Brinsworth Lane next Tuesday.

The works are part of the authority’s 2020 Roads Programme to maintain many roads, including on housing estates.

Brinsworth road improvements will complement footpath works taking place nearby.

Motorists and shoppers are warned to expect some disruption, as part of the road will need to be closed while the work is carried out.

It will take place in two phases, to minimise delays. Some access may be available outside of working hours.

Colin Knight, the authority’s head of highways, said: “We apologise for any disruption experienced by local residents and businesses.

“However, this work is essential to improve the footways and roads in the area and we hope people will appreciate the benefits once completed.”

Mr Knight added: “We hope that by arranging for the much needed road resurfacing works to take place during the school holiday period, we can minimise disruption to local people as much as possible.

“We aim to keep residents and businesses informed and if anyone has any questions, staff on-site will be happy to talk through any concerns.”

Resurfacing works will only affect Brinsworth Lane between the Bonet Lane mini roundabout and Poplar Drive, and part of Poplar Drive, which will also be closed to traffic.
