Brinsworth man dies in Leeds crash

Mr Robert Richardson (64), who was driving a silver Chevrolet, died in a collision with a van on the northbound carriageway at junction 42 around 12.40pm.

He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in her 60s who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The van driver was not injured.

From initial police inquiries it is believed that the Chevrolet may have been being driven slowly or been stationary either prior to or at the time of the collision due to a fault with the vehicle.
