A PROJECT manager at a translation services provider has been nominated for an award in recognition of his achievements.

Jamil Ahmad (25), of Brecks, is a project manager at Leeds-based firm thebigword, which provides translation and interpreting services to companies around the world.

He is up for Project Manager of the Year at the ATC Language Industry Awards for his work improving the firm’s recruitment process.

Jamil, who attended Wickersley School, was tasked earlier this year with refining how thebigword recruits linguists.

His work highlighted where change was needed in the firm’s recruitment process.

The result was that recruitment and operations colleagues better understood where and when to invest their time to meet client needs and retain the highest-calibre linguists.

Jamil, who has a passion for language, communication and travel, said: “Since joining thebigword, I have worked with almost every department in the business on a wide variety of projects.

Winners of the ATC Language Industry Awards will be announced at the Language Industry Summit in Cardiff later this weekend.
