BREAKING: Fire breaks out in large Thurcroft field sending smoke billowing

THREE fire crews are currently at the scene of a grass fire in a Thurcroft field.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Steadfolds Lane at 12.30pm today (Friday).

A fire service spokeswoman said crews were using “fire beaters” (a type of swatter) to attack it, which could be due to limited or no water source in the rural area.
