Breakfast and after school club rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted

A BREAKFAST and after-school club has been rated as outstanding by Government inspectors.

Bumbles Breakfast and After School Club in Blackburn received the top rating in all areas — effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

The club was registered in 2016 and employs two childcare staff who look after children Monday to Friday, during term-time from 7.30am to 8.40am and 3pm to 5.45pm.

Ofsted inspector, Laura Hoyland said: “Children are super excited and extremely enthusiastic about attending the setting. 

“They thoroughly enjoy spending time with their friends, exploring interesting activities and playing games.

“Both managers are highly skilled at complementing children’s learning in school. 

“They liaise very closely with teachers to ensure that activities support children’s current topics and their interests. Staff plan a wide range of exciting activities that stimulate children.

“The managers work extremely well together. They reflect on their practice and have an excellent attitude to continuous improvement. 

“They actively seek the views of children and parents in order to provide a high-quality service.”

The club currently looks after 25 children aged from three to 11.

Ms Hoyland added: “Children display exceptionally high standards of behaviour. “The managers empower children to take responsibility for their actions. “Children’s behaviour is superb.”
