Brave OAP foiled attempted car robbery

POLICE want to speak to this man after an attempted vehicle robbery — which was foiled when a brave, elderly driver refused to get out of his car.

The 73-year-old motorist was approached after reversing off his drive onto Barnsley Road in Darfield.

A police spokeswoman said: “It’s then reported that a man made threats, demanding that the elderly man got out of his car so he could take it.

“The man, assisted by two passers-by, bravely refused.

“Officers are now looking to speak to a man captured on dashcam footage, who they believe can help with enquiries.”

The incident happened at 1.30pm on May 3 and anyone who recognises the man in the photo is urged to call 101 quoting investigation 14/21821/19.
