A MASKED raider who took part in the "terrifying and traumatic" gunpoint robbery of a family in their home has been jailed for 20 years.

Danny Green (pictured) of Acacia Avenue, Bramley, was found guilty of aggravated burglary, kidnap, false imprisonment, grevious bodily harm and theft at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday following a week-long trial in connection with the attack in Adwick, Doncaster, in 2018.

Green was also found guilty of assault relating to an incident on March 28 last year.

The court heard that four men wearing balaclavas broke into a property on Mill Lane, Adwick, armed with a shotgun in the early hours of September 11, 2018.

The men had assaulted two of the family members, the jury was told, one of whom suffered facial injuries and another broken ribs.

One of the victims was tied up and forced into a vehicle while the rest of the family were held at gunpoint in the kitchen and threatened with a shotgun and knife as the men made demands for money.

The victim who had been forced into a vehicle was driven to a business he owns, where he handed over £12,000 from the safe. He was taken home before the gang fled in three of the family's own vehicles.

Police said proceeds of crime application has been made to claim £6,000 which had been found at Green's home.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Lee Szedzielarz said: “This was a terrifying and traumatic incident for the victims.

“As well as being threatened at gunpoint in their own home, one of the victims was kidnapped, leaving the rest of his family in fear of what may have happened to him.

“I am satisfied with the result at court and hope it helps bring about some form of closure to the victims.

“I would also like to thank the victims for the strength and determination they have displayed throughout the investigation and the trial.”
