Boy (16) to stand trial over town centre stabbings

A TEENAGER charged in connection with two stabbings in the town centre is due to stand trial in December.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Doncaster Crown Court on Monday charged with two offences of Section 18 wounding with intent in connection with an incident in High Street on July 5 and another on Spring Walk the following day.

A 30-year-old was taken to hospital with serious stab wounds after the incident on High Street, while a 39-year-old man suffered stab wounds in the Spring Walk incident.

The 16-year-old was remanded into youth detention and is due to appear at before the Crown Court on September 24. His trial is due to begin on December 14.

Police said a second 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the stabbings, had been bailed pending further enquiries.
