Boy (16) among five arrested over fatal M1 accident

FIVE people have been arrested following a collision on the M1 in which a pedestrian was killed.

Police today named the victim of the incident between junction 35a and 36 on Friday night as Jake Glover-Brown.

Mr Glover-Brown (25, pictured), from Barnsley, suffered fatal injuries in the incident on a collision on the northbound M1 at 11.50pm on Friday night, which also involved a black Mercedes CLA.

Three men, one teenager and one woman, all aged between 16 and 50, have been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The 16-year-old boy has been released under investigation and the other four have been bailed pending further enquiries, said a police spokeswoman.

It is understood that Mr Glover was a pedestrian in the third lane of the carriageway when he was hit.

Mr Glover-Brown’s family issued the following statement: “Jake’s family would like privacy at this difficult time to grieve the loss of a beloved brother, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

“Sweet dreams Jake, forever in our hearts.”

Police are investigating the incident and said they wanted to hear from witnesses, especially any motorists who may have dashcam footage. Anyone  with information should call 101, quoting incident number 1011 of October 18.
