Boy (13) assaulted while playing football

A 13-year-old boy suffered a swollen eye and broken tooth after being attacked while playing football.

The victim was with two friends at the Rotherham Football Centre on Chesterton Road at Eastwood at 4.30pm on December 17.

A police spokesperson said: “The victim was approached by another group of boys, who demanded he hand over his bag. When he refused, he was assaulted by the group.

“It is reported the group fled the scene with the victim’s black Valentino bag containing his bank cards and cash.

“The victim sustained a swollen eye and broken tooth as a result of the incident.”
