Contractors are about to remove the Victorian extension to Boston Castle, the hunting lodge that sits in Boston Park overlooking the rivers Don and Rother.

Hide AdRotherham Borough Council obtained listed building consent for the demolition of the brick extension last month.
The work is also in line with the long-term plans for the castle’s refurbishment.
A council spokeswoman said: “Earlier this year our culture and leisure service, together with the Friends of Boston Castle and Parklands, were awarded a first round pass from the Heritage Lottery to help restore the castle to its former glory.
“The first round pass does not automatically mean the castle will get the grant but it does mean that the project meets the strict criteria for funding.
“It also means that they believe the project has the potential to deliver high-quality benefits and value for lottery money.”
