The Millers suffered no injuries in Saturday's 1-0 triumph at Plymouth Argyle, a victory that took them nine points clear of the chasing pack.

But Warne reckoned his men looked tired after a busy fixture schedule and will freshen things up for the trip to the Shrews.

"It is the first time I have stood on the side and thought the lads looked a bit jaded," the manager said. "I will have to make changes on Tuesday, that's for sure."

Veteran skipper Richard Wood could come back into the backline after being rested at Home Park where a second-half strike from Michael Smith, who took his goal tally for the season to 22, sealed an eight win in nine league outings.

"There are certain games that I want to play Woody in," Warne said. "He wants to play every game - it's the same conversation we have every week - but I have got to try to get the best out of the group.

"I like to play him in two out of three matches and pick the games that suit him."

Wood remained on the bench against the Pilgrims Rotherham brought on Hakeem Odoffin, Jordi Osei-Tutu and Angus MacDonald to replace Dan Barlaser, Shane Ferguson and Joe Mattock respectively.

"Haks gave a positive performance, then Jordi came on and added legs," said Warne whose team were pushed all the way by promotion-chasing Argle.

"It all came together in the end, but it didn’t feel like that on the side of the pitch. It felt like we were pressing the self-destruct button a couple of times."

New striker Georgie Kelly is still waiting for his first taste of action after coming close to making the matchday 18.

Warne is pleased with the new boy's progress as he adjusts from part-time to full-time football following his switch from the League of Ireland.

"I took no joy in leaving  out Georgie and 'T' (Tolaji Bola)," the manager said. "They travelled and deserved to play a part - and they will at some stage."
