The Millers were only seconds away from a ninth win in their last ten league outings when Michael Salisbury awarded a penalty which opponents AFC Wimbledon scored to snatch an undeserved point.

Salisbury was the latest official to give an error-riddled display at AESSEAL New York Stadium but Warne had no complaints about the spot-kick when Joe Pigott fell under a challenge from Richard Wood in stoppage time.

"I have no issue with it," he said after a 2-2 draw played out in terrible Storm Dennis conditions. "I would have wanted it for my side."

Rotherham, who fought back from a goal behind to lead 2-1, remain clear at the summit, on goal difference, and created enough chances to win by a landslide.

"On another day we could have romped it 4 or 5-1," Warne said. "We needed the third goal really. Credit to Wimbledon for staying in the game.

"It's a quiet dressing room but I was pleased with our performance. You never know, at the end of the season, this just might turn out to be the point that gets us promoted.

“We go out to try and win every football game and I think our play deserved a victory. I am happy, I thought we were excellent.

“We played as well as we could but we just didn't take our chances. It's going to go down to the wire and there are going to be setbacks.

“There are going to be twists and turns. It was nice thinking if we would have won then everything would still be in our hands.

“We will pick up the lads on Monday, go through what we could have done better and hopefully learn and be a little bit stronger for the next game."
