Borussia Dortmund and Sheffield FC team up for Bluebell Wood kickabout

A match between German footballing legends and fans at Sheffield's oldest football club raised £362 for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

The game, between former Borussia Dortmund players and members of their England and Scotland fan clubs was held at the home of Sheffield FC in Dronfield. 

A half-time raffle was held and a donation was made from ticket sales.

Bluebell Wood children were invited to be mascots at the game, which saw former Borussia Dortmund and Germany international Michael Lusch, and ex-Manchester City and Dortmund defender Steffen Karl among those lining up.

The legends’ team decided to support Bluebell Wood after looking at charities in the area around Sheffield FC.

Benjamin McFadyean, who coordinated the match, said: “These games are a great opportunity for Borussia Dortmund fans to meet former players from the squad or even join them on the pitch in a fun, friendly setting, and help to raise funds for valuable local causes. 

“We’re delighted to have supported Bluebell Wood at this legends' game.”
