OFFICERS searching for missing pensioner Barry Jones believe they have found his body.

Mr Jones (77), of Aston, was reported missing from home on Tuesday, February 28.

He had been not seen since getting off a bus in Woodhouse Mill at around 1.20pm that day.

Police officers, firefighters and mountain rescue teams carried out a search of the area and found a body at around 1pm on Friday (March 10).

While formal identification of the body has not yet taken place, it is believed to be that of Mr Jones.

A police spokesman said his family had been informed and were receiving support from specialist officers.

He added there were not believed to be any suspicious  circumstances surrounding the death.
