Biker in hospital after collision

WITNESSES are being sought after an 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car in Rawmarsh.

The motorcyclist sustained multiple fractures to his head, left leg and arm and is being treated at Rotherham Hospital.

The collision happened at 8.54pm on Friday March, 9 when a Silver Audi A3 TDI, driven by a 24 year-old Rawmarsh man, was travelling along Heaton’s Bank, towards Rawmarsh.

A black off-road motorcycle, ridden by an 18-year year-old Rawmarsh man, was reported to be travelling along Rockingham Road towards Parkgate.

Police believe that as the Audi approached the junction with Rockingham Road to its offside, the motorcycle, reportedly, emerged from the junction and failed to give way.

The front of the motorcycle is believed to have struck the front of the Audi, police said.

The driver of the Audi did not sustain any injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that could assist officers is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1198 of March 9.
