Biker hospitalised after Greasbrough crash

A BIKER suffered "serious" injuries after being involved in a collision in Greasbrough last night (Thursday).

Emergency services were called to Car Hill just after 5.15pm after a red Yamaha motorbike, travelling along Car Hill towards Greasbrough, was involved in a collision with a blue Audi A4 joining from the junction of Barbot Hill Road.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: "A 25 year-old man driving the bike suffered serious injuries and currently remains in hospital in a serious condition.

"The 33 year-old man driving the Audi was not injured."

Firefighters from Rotherham station responded to the incident after the motorcycle caught fire, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said

The motorbike was well alight as a result of the road traffic collision, she added.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 683 of August 23.
