A SERIAL thief who targeted bikes in South Yorkshire and beyond has been jailed.

Thomas Miller (30), of Alexander Road, Balby, was sentenced to 38 weeks in prison after pinching four bikes from Doncaster and York.

Court documents note how magistrates sitting at Doncaster on June 1 considered Miller had “a flagrant disregard for people and their property”.

The first theft involved a £500 bike stolen from Doncaster on October 29 last year, for which Miller was ordered to serve 12 weeks.

He also admitted handling stolen goods in relation to a £500 bike at Doncaster station last August — for which he was ordered to pay £100 compensation and handed a ten-week sentence.

Magistrates also imposed a 16-week consecutive sentence for the theft of a £1,000 bike from York in April.

Miller was given two 16-week concurrent terms for two more bike thefts in York the same month and four weeks for stealing a toiletries set from Boots.

In total, Miller admitted five counts of theft, one of handling stolen goods and one of possessing cannabis.
