Big freeze set to get worse - warning: PICTURES

BRACE yourselves—that was the warning being issued to Rotherham folk today with the news that the temperature is going to plummet even further over the next few days.

The borough was turned into a winter wonderland over the weekend after several inches of snow fell in many parts and the Monday morning commute was turned into an even slower slog than normal as motorists took things carefully.

Forecasters said that there little chance of any more snow this week but warned that the mercury would struggle to get above 1 deg C, while the temperature could fall as low as -5 deg C, with wind chill making things feel several degrees colder.

More snow was forecast for the start of next week, prompting the Government to urge motorists take warm clothes, hot drinks and food with them on any journey.
