Anyone interested in joining is being asked to contact recovering stroke victim Eileen Thompson on  01709 878015.

Eileen, who lives in Wath, said: “I had a stroke three years ago and since then I’ve had a good recovery. But there are quite a few people who recover but don’t get their quality of life back.

“The Rotherham group is established now. The main reason we’re looking into this is that The Stroke Association is having its funding pulled and we’re trying to make more self-sufficient groups.

“A lot of people who have had strokes don’t have any contact with people. These sort of groups can really help but it’s lacking in this area.”
