Beggar ticketed for littering after throwing fine on the floor

A PERSISTENT beggar who was fined by a police officer threw his penalty on the floor and earned himself a second ticket for littering.

The man used “foul and abusive language” when he was arrested and handed a £100 Public Space Protection Order fine in Rotherham town centre yesterday (Tuesday), an officer from Rotherham’s Central Neighbourhood Policing Team said on Twitter.

“He then threw the ticket on the floor and was given another £100 PSPO fine for littering,” said the officer.

Police banned four persitent beggars from the town centre for 48 hours on Tuesday using section 35 dispersal orders.

They said one of the beggars, a man, was not homeless, was on benefits and had refused any help or support from services.

“We always try to assist vulnerable people first, unfortunately some people won’t engage,” said on officer on Twitter.
