Bedford the bright spot in Titans defeat

TWO tries from new skipper Joe Bedford provided the only consolation for Rotherham Titans on Saturday as they were heavily beaten by Newcastle Falcons in their final pre-season friendly.

Bedford went over for two tries in a 48-12 defeat at Kingston Park. Juan Pablo Socino converted one of them.

Earlier in the day the second team lost 52-17 against Newcastle's second team at Northumbria University after leading 17-12 at the break.

Titans' try scorers were Louis McGowan, Neil Spence and Ross Hackley.

Rotherham start their Championship season away to Bristol on Sunday.
