Battlefield finds discussed in First World War talk

BATTLFIELD archaeologist Alex Sotheran will give a talk on his experiences as an archaeologists working on the Western Front at a heritage group meeting next week.

Mexborough & District Heritage Society have organised a talk on First World War archaeology as part Mexborough's commemoration of the ending of the Great War. 

Alex will give a general introduction to the work he has been involved in over the last 15 years on battlefield sites in France and Belgium.

He will look at the general material that you would expect to find on a First World War site and examine three particular sites showing what can be learned from the archaeology of the world’s most bloody and brutal war. 

All are welcome to attend the event at 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 28, at the Concertina and Club, Dolcliffe Road, Mexborough.

Admission is £2.50 for non-member, £1.50 for members and £1 for the unemployed.
