Battle story to be told on history walk
THE STORY of a historic battle will be retold this weekend on a walk for history buffs.
The annual Maisbelli Battlefield Walk will begin at noon on Sunday at St Peter’s Church in Barnburgh.
The Battle of Maisbelli took place on the land north of Mexborough in 487 AD.
In this two-hour guided battlefield walk, poet and historian Ian Parks will talk about the battle and relate it to the landscape where it happened.
Those taking part are invited to bring a picnic.
