Barn destroyed in blaze

Around 20 firefighters were called to the blaze at Fox Farm, Coley Lane, at around 1.20am and found the area well alight.

Teams from Dearne, Tankersley, Elm Lane and Rotherham stations quickly got to work containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

Two neighbouring houses were evacuated as a precaution but firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading.

The barn, which was full of hay, was completely destroyed in the incident and Coley Lane remains closed.

An investigation into the cause of the fire started after the fire was put out.
