Aston firefighters tackle two arson attacks in half an hour

BINS and pallets were set alight in two arson attacks within the space of half-an-hour.

Firefighters from Aston station were called to Gray Avenue, Swallownest, at 4am today (Wednesday) where a wheelie bin and pallets were on fire, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

The fire, which was started deliberately, spread to the doorway of an empty property, she added.

Crews used hose reels to put out the fire and left the scene at 4.30am.

The crew was then called to Plantation Avenue, Dinnington, at 4.30am, where two bins had been set alight, said the spokeswoman.

Firefighters used hose reels to put out the fire and left the scene just before 5am, she added.
