Arsonists torch grassland in Herringthorpe and Scholes

GRASSLAND was torched in Herringthorpe and Scholes last night (Monday).

A crew from Rotherham station was called to the first grassland fire in Herringthorpe Valley Road, Herringthorpe, at 7.10pm. 

"The crew left the scene at 7.30pm and the cause of the grassland fire was deliberate," said a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

A crew from Tankersley station attended the second blaze at 7.15pm in Scholes Lane, Scholes. 

"The crew left the scene at 7.45pm and this fire was also a deliberate act," the spokeswoman added.
