Arsonists torch bin and bed in the Dearne Valley

A BIN and an old bed were set alight in the Dearne Valley over the weekend.

Crews from Dearne station were called out to both Wath and Mexborough overnight on Sunday.

In Wath, firefighters were called to a bin alight on Manvers Way at 7.25pm. They were on the scene for ten minutes.

Then at 11.15pm, they were dispatched to West Road, Mexborough, to deal with a bed on fire on wasteland. They were at the scene for 15 minutes.

Both fires are believed to have been started deliberately, said a spokesperson from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
