Arsonists strike three times to give firefighters busy weekend

A MOTORBIKE, a car and a shed were both set on fire over the weekend.

A motorbike was deliberately set on fire at 7.15pm on Friday on Smithey Lane, Wombwell.

Firefighters from Barnsley station attended the incident and were at the scene for almost half an hour.

There was a deliberate car fire in Waverley Avenue, Balby, at 11.10pm the same night, which was tackled by firefighters from Edlington station.

They spent more than an hour at the scene.

Firefighters from Dearne station were called out to a shed fire on an allotment at 2.25am on Saturday on Stonebridge Lane in Great Houghton.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

The crew came away at 3.50am.

And on Sunday afternoon, an accidental garage fire in Mexborough was attended by a crew from the same station.

They were dispatched at 4.10pm to Kirby Street and were there until 5pm.
