Arsonists strike five times overnight in borough

FIRE crews were called out five times overnight after arsonists set grass and rubbish alight — as well as a sofa and a discarded fridge.

Aston firefighters tackled a deliberate grass fire at 7.20pm on Colliery Road, Kiveton Park, and came away at 7.45pm.

A sofa in a field was deliberately set on fire at 10pm on Springwell Lane, Balby. Firefighters from Edlington station attended and left the scene at 10.25pm.

Firefighters spent 45 minutes dealing with a deliberate fire involving a discarded fridge at 10.15pm on Park Way, Thurnscoe. 

Crews from Rotherham attended a deliberate rubbish fire at 11.25pm on Kimberworth Road, Bradgate. They left the scene at 11.45pm.

Rotherham crews then went to a deliberate rubbish on New Wortley Road, Masbrough, at 2.45am and came away at 3am.
