Arrest after police officer attacked in Rotherham town centre

A MAN who was found collapsed in the street near Rotherham Interchange was arrested after attacking a police officer.

The 38-year-old was taken to hospital in ambulance after police officers provided first aid after finding him at around 2.45pm on Friday.

A police spokesman said he became “increasingly aggressive” and assaulted a police officer and damaged a patrol car.

He was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and assaulting a police officer.
